To take the form of a knight, a valravn must first devour the heart or drink the blood of a child. In Germanic mythology, a dwarf is a human-shaped entity that dwells in mountains and in the earth and is variously associated with wisdom, smithing, mining, and crafting.Dwarfs are sometimes described as short and ugly, although some scholars have questioned whether this is a later development stemming from comical portrayals of the beings. Working on this album has led us to explore different ways of exploiting roots music, perhaps more abstract but still with close focus on the atmosphere and power of the primitive. Here are some Cajun superstitions and good gris-gris (that’s “charms and spells” for you non-Cajuns): Valravn Valravn, released 11 August 2013 1. In Scandinavian mythology, these beings become very relevant and passed to be sacred beings connected directly to the god Óðinn, the All-Father. Now a fresh chapter in Valravn's history has opened with this second album, mainly of our own compositions. We love the thought that our music bears within it the sound of the world 1000 years ago, alongside the sound of the world right now and in the future. To take the form of a knight, a valravn must first devour the heart or drink the blood of a child. This new material is in fact something of an experiment for us, since we had no idea where it would lead us once we started. A monstrous hybrid between man and raven, he is one of two boss enemies that must be fought in order to open Helheim's gate. Valravne either take the child … Danheim. Valravn's performance incorporates conscious and skilful use of scenic effects like lighting, dry ice, sound, appearance and costume.
Two very special crows accompany him, Hugin (thinking or reasoning) and Munin (memory), they whisper everything they see and hear, all the news that is relevant to them in the present and in the past, reason why that's said that Óðinn knows everything that happens and is called Hrafnaguð (raven god).In Grímnismál, Óðinn speaks with affectionate tone, worried about them and giving us an idea about his fear to lose the reason and the memory:In norse poetry, there talk about ravens associating them with the blood and the corpses that are stacked in the battlefields. In particular, accounts of their existence claim that valravne are created from when ravens eat the heart of men slain in battle. ''He is the gull of the wave of the heap of corpses, who screams dashed with hail and craves morning steak as he arrives at the sea of corpses''(Hlakkar hagli stokkin már valkastar báru, krefr morginbráðar er kemr at hræs sævi)The norse people associated the ravens directly with Óðinn and were used as symbols of their banners. Ravens are already one of the smartest of all birds, but a valravn is smarter still, and it can use its intelligence to speak with, and even make contracts with humans. Most people who know me will tell you that I can be a bit of a mythology/folklore nerd.

Der Name stammt von dem Vogel Valravn, der in der gleichnamigen Legende als der König aller Vögel mit … These beautiful beings attract attention in many ways and are carriers of certain news for those who are attentive. In Scandinavian mythology, these beings become very relevant and passed to be sacred beings connected directly to the god Óðinn, the All-Father. The roots of Valravn don't lie in the folktronica that they play now, but in an acoustic medieval ensemble called Valeria, which played fairs and toured around villages and small towns before morphing into the far more electronic Valravn, named for the supernatural raven of Scandinavian mythology (and they're often joined on-stage by a giant raven). We meet all kinds of people, young and old, huge Nordic Vikings, Arabic hip-hoppers, break-dancing teenagers, even old hippies who seem to hover round the room. And matters are more complicated with Valravn, as Senua fights with a creature collected right from several mythological characters. In 2009 Valravn are bound for the enormous German Rudolstadt Tanz & Folk Fest, with over 70,000 of an audience, one of the most important folk, roots and world music festivals in Europe.
